«The likelihood that this played a key role in moving Republicans also underscores how unlikely they are to help the economy and the country next year, if they do retain control of the Senate.»

Well… we’ll see how long that lasts.

The other possibility is that enough conservatives join the Dems to make the Republican party a real rump of its former self and then the Dem party fractures into two parties. If so, I hope the new conservative party stays smart for at least a couple of generations, eschewing the demagoguery of xenophobia (and that includes dog whistles).

Or maybe Steve is growing up.

Or maybe there’s more money to be made consulting on the Dem side now.

Or maybe something else I don’t know.

Well, ok, if we must accept the fact that our very best efforts to invalidate and #OVERTURN the election have finally failed….

I suppose at some point (now? maybe? after our best efforts not to be?), we must be a nation of laws….

Republicans. As an epithet, approaching “nazis” or “Confederates”. I wonder how many people will avoid that label as some (predominantly white) churches now avoid the label “Baptist”.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/12/us/politics/trump-lawsuits-electoral-college.html

«…Republican leaders now stand for a new notion: that the final decisions of voters can be challenged without a basis in fact if the results are not to the liking of the losing side, running counter to decades of work by the United States to convince developing nations that peaceful transfers of power are key to any freely elected government’s credibility.»

I don’t think I’m ever going to shut up about this.
