This is, once again, an incorrect focus on the individual who is the president. The problem is both systemic, and with the *voters*, not individual politicians.

Democrats misjudged badly when they decided they didn’t need to turn out for the 2010 mid-terms. That started the gerrymandering that continues to affect us.

That was 18 years ago, coming up on a generation. It’s going to take at least another generation to straighten this out, during which Dems must win mid-terms in addition to presidential elections.

(Even off-year elections can result in school boards populated with crazies who deny evolution and think the Confederacy was a heroic Lost Cause.)

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

I had wondered how they did it.  Sounds like they just explicitly invalidated it.  Not sure why.  The override sounds good, but…

So, was this a case of throwing out an old, supremely bad ruling in a way that has as little effect as possible?  “This thing, which was bad, is invalid, but this other thing, which is very similar, is good.”
