«200,000 fascists and Nazis march in Warsaw, Poland led by the President and Prime Minister. Calling for an ethnically cleansed Poland and basically a 2nd Holocaust.»

In North Korea, Missile Bases Suggest a Great Deception – The New York Times

The art of the deal:

«American intelligence officials say that the North’s production of nuclear material, of new nuclear weapons and of missiles that can be placed on mobile launchers and hidden in mountains at the secret bases has continued.

And the sanctions are collapsing, in part because North Korea has leveraged its new, softer-sounding relationship with Washington, and its stated commitment to eventual denuclearization, to resume trade with Russia and China.»

🙂

«Why anyone would feel the need to consume Jameson in shot form is one of life’s eternal mysteries and makes me contemplate the composition of an essay tentatively entitled “The Wussification of American Drinking Culture”.»

I had no idea they came from the same distillery and company.

A president we can all be proud of.

But bottom line: Trump willfully insisted on an unnecessary trip to France to mark the WW1 centenary -then once he got there shirked on grounds of weather the job of honoring those who fought and died in rain and mud 100 years ago https://t.co/7u3qZCmBRB https://t.co/5TX1WLt9k8

From a series of tweets and replies on gun control

There was a discussion of bad firearm handling on the part of military Twitter I follow. The gist is that even the professionals display stupidity, so a proposal to arm more and more people is just dumb.

I’m posting this tweet because of the 1:13 ratio, which I find interesting (and fits with something I heard from another military guy, years ago when I was in college, on the ratio of trigger-pullers to support personnel).

Exactly.

Not everyone in the military is a steely-eyed death dealer. Not even most people in the military. For every infantryman in the Army, there’s something like 13 other soldiers. Many handle their weapons once a year to qualify because that’s what the regs require.

Max Boot: The battle with Trumpism is just beginning

«Partisan rancor, already high, will reach stratospheric levels in the next two years. But that is the price of checks and balances — which have been mainly lacking so far. The election results restore some of my faith in our democracy, but I am sobered by the realization that the battle is far from over. It could last another two years, or even six years. It is quite possible the Democrats will overplay their hand and that Trump will use his demagogic skills to win reelection. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, this is not the end of Trumpism. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.»
