I’ve been interested in Bullock for a while, considering that he’s the white male governor of a Trump state (Montana) who isn’t Sanders or Biden. Some of his positions are pretty radical, Trump-state governor or no. If we can’t have Warren because everybody’s so scared of a woman or a black candidate or one who shares a name with a Cuban dictator, how about this guy?

It has occurred to me recently that the “aliens among you” passage refers not just to the newly-arrived but to ALL “others”, because we have always had those we consider “others” living “among us”. If you consider that the ancient Hebrews arrived in ancient Israel organically or via in-migration (which I do), then they would have always had “aliens” loving among them; it would have been part of their daily condition from birth, even if they didn’t know or remember that they, themselves, were immigrants (and of which they are directly reminded).
Humans have been traveling farther and for a longer time, and mixing a lot more than we think, because we think tribally.
