«“When a cop picks up a white boy, he takes him to his parents,” said Mary Stansell, juvenile chief at the Wake County Public Defender’s Office. “But if he is black, he takes him to the state.”

From 2015 through 2018 nearly 7,300 complaints were filed against children age 6 to 11 years old, according to numbers from the state Juvenile Justice section.

Of those complaints, 47% were against Black children, 40% were against white children and 7% against Hispanic or Latino children.Ad

In general, 22% of the state’s population is Black, 70% is white and 10% is Hispanic.»

Newsmax Loses More Than Half Its Audience Since Post-Election Ratings Surge

https://www.mediaite.com/tv/newsmax-loses-more-than-half-its-audience-since-post-election-ratings-surge/

Newsmax got hammered, BUT… the electorate is going back to sleep.

«Since the week of Nov. 16, CNN’s total day viewership has dropped 36%, and 43% in the demo, as of the week of Feb. 22; in prime time, total viewership is down 38%, and 45% in the demo. At MSNBC, total day viewership is down 17%, and 28% in the demo, while prime time viewership is down 12% overall, and 22% in the demo. Fox News has seen its total day audience drop 7% since November, and 13% in the demo, while its primetime viewership has dropped 19%, and 25% in the demo.»

(I think “demo” is “demographic”.)

This whole thing is good. The endeavor of writing science fiction becomes more relevant every day.

«This is the future of security holes in our internet-connected appliances: metaphorically, cameras that you can fool by slapping a sticker labelled “THIS IS NOT THE DROID YOU ARE LOOKING FOR” on the front of the droid the camera is in fact looking for.»

Melanie Castillo (@wellmelsbells) Tweeted: I feel grief because I know love. And because my pain is chronic, I know it’ll pass. I’m just sad, like so many of us. I used to think grief had an end. Kyrsten Sinema and the Minimum Wage and Moderates

Here, for your delectation and elucidation, is a series of quote tweets and replies. (P.S. Why do I have to unravel this stuff like this?)

Marcus H. Johnson @marcushjohnson

What’s the news for today?

Sinema constituent @cactusinsurance

People screaming and rending their garments at the sausage making process

Sinema brought cake

(Here’s what they’re talking about:)

Marcus H. Johnson @marcushjohnson

Idk why people are so mad at Sinema, a bunch of other Dems didnt vote for the Bernie amendment either. This is on Bernie for not building the coalition he needed for success

minus@metallicpipeli1

They’ve been targeting her in particular for years and will celebrate if their hard work causes her to lose to a Republican in 2024.

Marcus H. Johnson @marcushjohnson

They need to grow up and realize not every electorate is gentrified Brooklyn. You can’t win as a socialist in most places. Sinema, Manchin, etc won their elections precisely because of the politics they hold. And if they didn’t win, GOP has a majority and everyone gets zero.

Dan Martineau @dandandanitup

you don’t think a more liberal candidate could win in AZ? I’m resigned to WV but is AZ that right leaning

Anyway, the answer is to flip more GOP senate seats.

Marcus H. Johnson @marcushjohnson

The Senate has a rural bias, Dems will be relying on moderate Senators for any hope of a majority for the rest of this decade at least.

Grappling with inhumanity @GrownRoom

This is a ridiculous argument. 2/3rds of the population want universal healthcare, cannabis legalization & $15 min wage. We cannot keep saying we have to elect “moderates” to pass these policies. Moderates don’t support these things. It doesn’t matter how many of them we elect.

Marcus H. Johnson @marcushjohnson

Then move a bunch of leftists to Idaho and go win a Senate seat there. The Senate has a rural bias, its purposefully anti majoritarian. To overcome that and have a chance at any majority Dems have to rely on moderates. Its *something* or *nothing* and its an easy choice
