We have to be careful not to hide racism under race-neutral language. The article gives a detailed history of the “conservative”* movement’s evolution through the 60s and 70s (as opposed to Weyrich choosing to focus on abortion only in 1978 because he couldn’t focus on segregation), but, still, to assert that racism is no component of the anti-abortion movement is wrong. *”Conservative” in quotes because “conservatives” are really just unprincipled racists, sexists, fascists and nationalists. Actually, the more I think of it, maybe that’s what they’ve always been?
