The simple reason Republican Sunday show hits are disasters

I’m not the only one saying 50% of the US electorate:

«“Just to sum up,” Stephanopoulos said, nailing shut the coffin lid on whatever was left of Sununu’s reputation as a serious politician. “You support Trump for president even if he’s convicted in the classified documents case. You support him for president even though you believe he contributed to an insurrection. You support him for president even though you believe he’s lying about the last election. You support him for president even if he’s convicted in the Manhattan case. I just want to say, the answer to that is yes, correct?”

“Yeah. Me and 51 percent of America,” Sununu said, exposing himself as a craven opportunist once and for all.»

«The mainstream TV interviews are humiliating for Republicans — but maybe that’s the point. Right-wing media outlets are less likely to challenge Republicans about January 6 or accepting the 2024 election results, so the true loyalty test is on the major network shows.»

This is fiction, but I can’t help but cast it in terms of our current events.

«She takes the money and stuffs it into a pocket.  “You can find your way from here?” he asks. She grins. “I’m not a yellow card. I don’t have anything to fear.” Hock Seng makes himself smile in return, thinking that she does not know how little anyone cares to separate wheat from chaff, when all anyone wants to do is burn a field.»

Conservative Legal Philosophy Was All a Lie, Too

Some “conservatives” coming to a realization:

«In Stuart’s view, conservatives had a bunch of groups they disfavored and then worked backwards to concoct an ideological framework to support these prejudices. No, not all conservatives. And maybe not on every single issue. But enough so that the generalization was generally fair.

When Stuart first published his book I thought it was an interesting idea. The preponderance of evidence that has emerged since 2020 has buttressed his case.»
