America: 1. Trump: 0. Trump’s Funding Freeze Melts Away.
And after all the hilarity:
«We were promised a newly efficient crew of flying monkeys whoâd have all their ducks in a row and get right to work making with the creative destruction. They donât seem yet to have arrived.
But do not get comfortable and Do Not Congratulate: These sick bastards never get tried of trying.»

Throw Biden Under the Bus | Yglesias
Not a giant fan of Yglesias when he seems to be being a contrarian just for the sake of it. Also, his voice sets my teeth on edge, so I can’t listen to his podcasts.
BUT. I think he’s right here. I think *one* of the criteria by which we might want to judge future Dems is how willing (and able) they are to detach themselves from Biden.
The StoryGraph has “buddy reads”
Just discovered that The StoryGraph has a thing called “buddy reads”. Let’s see how *this* works out.
The 12 Democrats who make the most sense for 2028 – The Washington Post

I’d be happy with anybody from this list. (Not a giant Walz fan, but if he’s the choice, I’ll totally support him.)
South Koreaâs President Yoon Is Indicted – The New York Times
Citizens United at 15: Landmark Ruling Helped Elon Musk & Other Billionaires Bankroll Trump Victory | Democracy Now!
«JUAN GONZĂLEZ: And, Brendan, you noted that former President Biden used his farewell address to warn the country of the move, a greater â of the country veering toward an oligarchy. Yet, what did Biden do during his presidency to restrain the influence of money in politics?
BRENDAN FISCHER: Not much. Bidenâs statement about the power of the growing oligarchy and the growing tech oligarchy were certainly welcome, and they were accurate, but Biden himself did very little during his administration to limit moneyâs influence on politics. There were no executive orders to crack down on dark money or require contractors to disclose their political spending.
And one of the most effective or direct things that a president can do to limit moneyâs influence on politics or to enforce the laws limiting moneyâs influence on politics is to appoint commissioners to the Federal Election Commission. And the one Democrat that Biden nominated to the Federal Election Commission actually sided with the Republicans in this key advisory opinion that came out last year that allowed super PACs to coordinate with campaigns on certain canvassing and other activities. And itâs that advisory opinion that allowed Elon Muskâs super PAC to take over some central campaign operations from the Trump campaign. It allowed the Trump campaign to outsource key campaign operations to this Musk-funded super PAC, which further amplified Muskâs political influence.
So, Bidenâs legacy, in many ways, on money in politics is one of deregulation. You know, itâs on his watch that the FEC has really accelerated this deregulatory turn and has allowed even more money and even more unregulated money to flow into the U.S. political system.»

Coordinating on canvassing, by itself, doesn’t sound like such a bad thing, but maybe a single person or company or industry group shouldn’t be able to dump a quarter of a billion dollars into a politician’s campaign.
Keene man arrested for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 rejects Trumpâs pardon | New Hampshire Public Radio
Former Trump supporter:
«It was actually a quote of Trump that I would carry and repeat. Trump said, ‘People talk about change. Nobody ever changes.’ And I believed that. And now I believe change is necessary for survival.»
(Of course, I don’t know what he supports now. Sanity, presumably.)
The Independent: Lauren Boebert forced to apologize after trying to kick out âa guyâ from womenâs bathroom at Capitol
«âWithin minutes, however, Boebert was storming back from the House floor into the restroom â reinforced by Rep. Nancy Mace in tow.â
âBut alas, just seconds after this duo entered the bathroom, they come back out â and went back quietly to the floor,â House said.»
Clowns. Plain and simple.
