«In tax year 2017, the last year before the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) took effect, approximately 5 million taxpayers had to pay under the AMT. The TCJA increased the AMT’s exemption and exemption phaseout through 2025, greatly reducing the number of taxpayers subject to the AMT, to an estimated 200,000.»

«A truly egalitarian multiracial, pluralistic democracy in which an individual’s status was not determined to a significant degree by race, gender, or religion? I don’t think that’s ever been achieved anywhere. It’s a vision that reactionaries abhor – to them, it would be the end of “Western civilization.” And they are determined to fight back by whatever means necessary.»

Good stuff:
Normally I post first on WordPress and then distribute from there, but somebody on Mastodon said something that made me mad, so I posted there first and then shared it to here.
Total federal spending is about $6 tril and total state & local is about $3 tril.
Defense is 13% of federal. Vast majority of state & local is public welfare and education.

Don’t know why he’d use “NatCon” when “NatC” is right there.

Normally, the WSJ editorial page is garbage, but occasionally they come out with something good. The Republicans have lost the plot indeed.
@bodil@lol.camp 🔗 https://lol.camp/objects/62ef1861-2781-4d1a-9703-9309c626a494 – If you’re seeing the latest LastPass incident and thinking you should get off hosted password managers, I finally got around to this last year after the previous major LastPass incident and I’ve been extremely happy with https://keepassxc.org/ with the password database stored on your file sync tool of choice (I use OneDrive and Syncthing but anything will do, it’s just one heavily encrypted file). Keepass2Android is a better Android client than LastPass’s ever was too.
And if you’re thinking “I’m OK, I’m on 1Password,” well, good luck with that, I’m sure *this* time trusting your passwords to a corporation will work out.
