Oz campaign staff are apparently not that bright

Democrat Peltola beats Palin in Alaska special election upset

Welp… I guess Republicans will hate ranked-choice voting even more now.

«Democrat Mary Peltola has defeated Republican Sarah Palin in the special election for Alaska’s vacant House seat, a big upset over the former governor in the state’s first election under ranked-choice voting.

….

Peltola is a part of the Yup’ik indigenous community and has also served as the executive director of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, bridging over 100 tribes together in Western Alaska.»

Of course… nothing’s ever permanent.

«Just to make it all a bit weirder, Peltola, Palin, and Begich are facing each other again on the ballot in November in the House general election. The winner tonight will serve out the rest of this term whereas the winner in the fall will get a full two-year term.»

[Update] As predicted:

Passionate teams isolate themselves

Ooh, this is good:

«Teams that are passionate about something tend to become more passionate over time. But almost with certainty, the broader organization they’re in doesn’t share the same passion.

As teams get more and more passionate, it isolates them from the broader team. Within the sub-team, the feeling grows and multiplies that the broader team “just doesn’t get it”. And within the broader team, the feeling grows and multiplies that the sub-team is “in their little corner”, focused on the wrong things, and hard to work with (because they insist on seeing everything through the lens of their passion). This effect compounds as distrust builds, and can lead to a point where the team is reorged to “fix it”, which can be catastrophic for passionate teams
