(@AN_Goldstein, I hope this doesn’t get me in too much trouble.)

«The real reason Germano was relieved? Relentlessly pursuing higher performance from female Marine recruits, which included raising the expectations and standards to which they were trained, while also lowing injury and attrition rates. In just a year, both recruits and Marines in 4th Battalion were performing the best they ever had, and in many cases, were outperforming men.

Germano presented evidence-based results. The Marine Corps responded with emotion.»

I wouldn’t go with the “emotion” explanation; I’d go with “organizational antibodies”. Presumably, she came up with something that runs counter to a pre-conceived notion, and rather than reconsider the notion, the organization comes to the conclusion that she must have done something wrong.

Kind of like “we know women are weak, so if she’s getting better performance out of them, she MUST be abusing them.”

Looks like an interesting book.
